Adam Levine, the Voice of ADHD
For those of you who aren’t already enamored of rock star Adam Levine (is that anyone on the planet?), the Maroon 5 lead singer has just launched a project that’s sure to win the hearts and minds of those with an interest in ADHD.
Levine has partnered with the pharmaceutical company Shire to launch “The Own It Project,” an effort to encourage adults with ADHD to take responsibility for their attention issues and share their stories with others.
Those wishing to participate in the project can submit their story about when they knew they needed to own their ADHD. Participants are entered into a national contest with a chance to win prizes along with the opportunity to be the next “Own It” campaign spokesperson. In addition to receiving an autographed guitar from Levine, the winner will be able to choose between two prize packages, one focusing on technology and the other built around professional appearance. Both packages include sessions with an ADHD coach.
“The Own It Project,” says Levine, “is important because it encourages adults, like me, who are owning their ADHD, to become advocates and tell their story. I hope that this effort will help people realize the importance of owning their ADHD.”
Submissions must be sent to OwnItProject.com by June 6, 2012.

My ADHD was diagnosed while my son was going through the ADHD diagnosis process.
I think it is a gift….I am successful because I have ADHD and dyslexia. We think different and therefore succeed because we do things our own way.
I am thrilled to have ADHD…..most days. ;-P

hello Adam, I want to say your very talented, dispite having ADHD. I also had struggled with this mental disorder as a child, and it wasn’t until I became an adult that I knew I even had it. I found out when my oldest son was in 3rd grade, he was flaged and tested. It wasn’t a suprise because I new someting was wrong with my ability to focus, comprehend and succeed as others did. some of the decisions I made wern’t wise. my son was smart as he could be but had the same problems, not able to focus, or make wise decisions. it wasn’t until I decided to consistantly study the bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses that my life started to have any stability & organization because of the fact that Jehovah the true God is an organized God. we learned why the suffering, when it will end and what we can do about it at present. curently, my 16 year old son is taking meds for focusing and is doing assume at school and my daughter also struggled with the same disorder & is taking focusing meds as well. however what helps us to make wise decisions is taking in knowledge from the bible. attending our bible studies consistantly. we understand why, & know what to do now & have a hope for the future.
